Bio
As the Director of Community Relations for the Philadelphia Eagles, Julie Hirshey leads the team’s efforts in working to strengthen and support a high quality of life for generations of Eagles fans. By partnering with local non-profits and executing public facing social responsibility initiatives, the Eagles continuously demonstrate that they are proud Philadelphians that take their responsibility to the community seriously. Under Hirshey’s guidance, the team launched the Eagles Care initiative in 2013, an annual program that forges strategic partnerships with local charitable organizations. The program is built off of the team’s belief that strong non-profits build strong communities. Since its inception four years ago, 19 organizations have become an extension of the Eagles Care family and three more – Dignity Housing, Philadelphia Wooden Boat Factory, Ryan’s Case for Smiles – are working collaboratively with the team during the 2017 season. Hirshey also serves as an Officer and Vice President of Eagles Charitable Foundation (ECF), the team’s public charity that is dedicated to providing free, comprehensive vision care to underserved children, as well as committing key resources to autism research. Originally established in 1995 as Eagles Youth Partnership, ECF has impacted more than one million children in the Greater Philadelphia region through its ongoing efforts to help improve the health outcomes for local youth. Led by Hirshey and the organization, ECF’s Taking Flight for Autism fundraiser has contributed approximately $1.6 million to autism support and research programs at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia and the Center for Autism Research. The team’s community efforts also include a landmark Huddle Up for Autism event, PLAY 60 grant presentations, youth football education and empowerment, playground revitalizations and player appearances. Prior to joining the Eagles in 2000, Hirshey worked at the National Hockey League in New York and for the Terriers ice hockey team while receiving her BS in Sociology from Boston University. Hirshey is a native of the Philadelphia area and comes from a family of long-time Eagles Season Ticket Members.
